Preventive measures for shrimp virus disease

(1) Biosecurity measures are the core of shrimp virus disease prevention , and a strict production management system needs to be established.


(2) Procurement of seeds and seedlings that have passed the quarantine inspection.


(3) Scientifically set the breeding density.


(4) Disinfection of farms, breeding ponds and breeding facilities: soil ponds and farms can be disinfected with 0.25 kg/m3 (water body) of quicklime or equivalent disinfectant for more than 12 hours, and the depth of bottom mud disinfection and ploughing should be within 10 to 15 cm; cement ponds, plastic film ponds and aquaculture facilities use calcium hypochlorite 50 to 100 g/m3 (water body) for immersion and disinfection for more than 24 hours; aquaculture or nursery water can use calcium hypochlorite 40 to 100 g/m 3 (water body) or an equivalent disinfectant for 12 hours. After disinfection, fully aerate to eliminate residual chlorine (less than 3 grams per cubic meter of water body) before placing seedlings or injecting water into the pond.


(5) There is a risk of spreading shrimp viruses by feeding chilled feed, and commercial feed is recommended for breeding.


(6) The polyculture of closely related shrimps and crabs should be avoided during the breeding process to reduce the risk of disease transmission across hosts.


(7) It is not advisable to adopt the method of fish and shrimp polyculture to control the spread of pathogens in the virus disease-affected area of Noda Village.

【Control measures】


(1) When the occurrence of shrimp virus disease is suspected, maintaining the high dissolved oxygen, low ammonia nitrogen and low nitrous nitrogen state of the aquaculture water, and maintaining the stability of water quality indicators such as temperature, pH and salinity of the aquaculture water can slow down the disease rate.


(2) If any signs of disease are found in the farmed shrimps, they should be sent to the aquatic animal disease testing laboratory at or above the county and city level for testing and confirmation. Broodstock and seedlings confirmed to be sick are prohibited from being used for production, circulation and trade. The diseased and dead shrimp should be fished out in time and harmless treatment should be carried out by deep burial or corpse method.


(3) When the sick pond is cleaned, the aquaculture wastewater needs to be treated with quicklime 0.25 kg/m3 (water body) for 12 hours before being discharged;
